Code Red is a new, delicious dark chocolate product containing bioactive ingredients, targeted to individuals experiencing menstrual pain. The product simultaneously provides the pleasure of eating indulgent dark chocolate, along with addressing muscle function as a form of self-care. The pre-portioned chocolate squares use 3 quality bioactive ingredients and no artificial flavours, preservatives, and additives.
The product is an excellent source of magnesium, which contributes to normal muscle function. Scientific research shows that menstrual pain is higher in those with low calcium and vitamin D levels, where Code Red includes these bioactive ingredients as a step towards improving nutrient deficiencies. Plus, Code Red is Fairtrade certified and has compostable packaging to reduce its environmental impact. Menstruation can be difficult, but period pain doesn’t have to be anymore with Code Red! BioSnactive was founded by Jessica Ulbikas, a University of Guelph graduate in the Human Health and Nutritional Sciences masters program, using her nutritional science knowledge and food product development expertise.
