| The Dirty Seahorse was born when my daughter was in masonry school and we soon discovered that women’s workwear does not exist and if it did it didn’t fit properly. Current workwear is not designed for women’s bodies. Shortly there after we did market research and soon realized this was a huge problem for women in skilled trades. At this point I knew I could help these women in trades, so we began conducting surveys and interviews in women in the trades. This is when we decided to create a company unlike any other! We involve women in the trades every step of journey and they have virtually helped build out our clothing by building a community that is supportive and a safe space for tradeswomen to share their needs and desires. They have come up ideas and features they want and need for their clothing and we translate these directly into our products.
